let me use the metaphor of the bridge
look at our sad attempts jump off the bridge
at the bridge’s middle sits depression
our love cannot make it over the bridge
the bridge is trite and over done like you
i write a ghazal; i’m stuck with the bridge
ghazal; to seek the unattainable
our suicidal words go toward the bridge
you and the ghazal are upon the bridge
i cannot gussie up and burn the bridge
